At 80 years old, Dolly Parton has passed away. She was among one the most admired living Americans, for several good reasons. Known for her music, with such hits as 9 to 5, her Imagination Library giving children books (over 332 million gifted), and donating a million dollars for COVID vaccine research, she will be dearly missed and I for one mourn for her.
One could say she lived the good life. She used her fame and wealth to help ordinary people in a thousand meaningful ways. She was a paid-up union member, American Federation of Musicians, Local 257, Nashville. She gave a million of dollars in disaster relief to good people in Sevierville, Tennessee after flooding left millions without power.
Let her life be a reminder that there are millions of people like Dolly who fight for the everyday common folk of this country. With my little corner of the Internet, I anoint, first of her name, Dolly Parton, a Holy Patron Saint of the Web. Rest in Power, Dolly.
