The Photography of Protests and Rallies

I've had an interest in photographing protests and rallies since arrived in DC in 2006. I did not consider myself to be a photojournalist or documentary photographer. Partially because I don't adhere nor do I believe in the view from nowhere in journalism. It's silly and the big newspapers tend to devolve into bothsidism when performing so called objective journalism. But I had in my mind a sense that I need to capture a moment of history and be there for it. Here's some my favorites over the years:
